German Fieldbluse M-1940, modified into M-1941, used as a Prisoner of war jacket being dyed black

A German modified M 1940 Feldbluse according Army circular HM 41 No.558 of May 26, 1941 ordered the addition of a sixth button to the tunic's front closure. The reason is not quit clear.(Noticeable is the fact that the SS did not add a sixth button.) This variant of the tunic saw a simplified construction of the bellows on the hip pockets. The 1940 tunic has a cotton twill lining whilst that of the 1941 modified tunic is cut from greyish sateen due to the shortage of cotton.

The breastpockets of this tunic have been removed like the breast eagle, still clearly visible.
